Name: Kingdom Rush Frontiers
Release Date: 06 June 2013
Developer: Ironhide Game Studio
Kingdom Rush Frontiers offers more of Kingdom Rush; it is basically that. It plays like Kingdom Rush and looks like Kingdom Rush. That is not at all a bad thing since we desperately need to play more Kingdom Rush and all the levels included in this sequel offer the same amount of challenges and maybe even more fun! For those who are new to the world of Kingdom Rush, the gameplay is easy to learn. You have to defend your kingdom by kill off your enemies before they can enter your kingdom; to do this, you can build towers to attack your foes, command heroes and use special power ups.
Kingdom Rush Frontiers includes the same four classic towers you can build in which old players will surely learn their ways quickly. However, the developers did add something new too - the fourth level upgrade of each tower is different than the first game and they are actually surprisingly cool and helpful. You can still use the raining fire and command special soldiers. There are also tons of new enemies you have to get familiar with and learn each of their special power.
What makes Frontiers a little more unique is that each level looks and feels different unlike the first game where many of the levels are fairly similar. In this sequel, each level will have its own unexpected twists for example hand that rose from the ground to grab whatever it can or special soldier units and many more.
Each level will start off with 20 Hearts and you will be rewarded with 1-3 hearts at the end of each level depend on the number of hearts you have left. These stars can be used to buy upgrades for your towers. Moreover, the diamonds rewarded can be used to buy special items in the shop - all of the items are the same as the first game. To help you complete the level more efficiently, you can select the Hero you wanted in the Hero menu screen and in this sequel, you can even train them with different abilities. There are three heroes which are free to use and the other, more powerful ones will need 'real money' to unlock them. Unfortunately, they are quite pricey ranging from $2.99 to $6.99.
Kingdom Rush Frontiers has nothing wrong with the graphics which are very beautiful, colorful and sharp. Music and sound effects are similar to the first but why bother changing them since they are already perfect? Kingdom Rush Frontiers includes 25 main levels where you can replay each level using different difficulty mode or playing them with Heroic or Iron mode for the experts.
To sum up, Kingdom Rush Frontiers definitely deserves a place in everyone's iDevice. It is nothing unexpected but still offer us enough twists to make this a 'MUST HAVE' sequel.
