Strange Cases: The Faces of Vengeance

After the latest two games of the Strange Cases series have been released as Collector's Edition; Sulus Games took a step down to offer this latest sequel as a Standard Edition game - while the initial reactions on the Big Fish Games' forum were not specially thrilled, we found this game surprisingly enjoyable!

Once again, you have to get in the shoes of a FBI Agent, Claire Ellery and this time, her ward, Anna, is missing! There are tarot cards all around and the clues directed you to an abandoned shopping mall. That is when the story starts to get exciting and the way the game tells the story is very different from the past three games. In The Faces of Vengeance, you will have quite a few conversations with the  villain  behind the mask; the idea is very thrilling. The fact that there are microphones and cameras hidden in every location you visit is also quite creepy and raise the players' excitement to another level.

The graphics, even though are not the best we have seen; they are decent enough. Scenes are very detailed and are not too ominous and objects in Hidden Object scenes are not too hard to find. We believe that the graphics could be better since they feel a little bit outdated but we still appreciate them. Music is spooky and fits the game well; voice overs are great as well.

furthermore, we actually love the idea of the abandoned shopping mall since it has not been done before (?). The map in the game is incredibly useful because otherwise you have to perform a whole load of backtracking. Puzzles in the game are not remarkable but very entertaining indeed and they are not too easy nor too hard.

It is quite annoying that the game ended so fast or maybe we just enjoyed the game so much that the time flew by. Nonetheless, Strange Cases: The Faces of Vengeance is no doubt a very exciting and entertaining game - try it for yourself!
