Name: Galactic Express
Release Date: 11 January 2013
From the developer of popular titles such as the Build-a-lot Series, Flip Words, Puzzle Express, Shop-it-up and many more comes a brand new family-friendly puzzle game that sets in the space.
Galactic Express is the improved sequel of the well-known Ocean Express and the classic Puzzle Express; every aspects of the game has clearly improved from the previous titles, from the graphics, gameplay and effects. There is not much of a story in this puzzle game, basically you need to load the cargo, send orders to other planets and earn profits.
The gameplay is very entertaining and indeed addicting, once you started it is pretty hard to stop. You have to load the cargo with tiles of different shapes; you can click and drag the tiles from the bottom of the screen, rotate and fit them into the cargo. It is not necessary to fully filled the cargo but the more you filled, the more points and money you will earn. As the game progresses, it is harder to load the cargo as the shapes get more complicated; there are also many new power-ups for you to earn as well as collect tokens to purchase them in the shop. The shop sells three types of power-ups, Add Time, Score Multiplier and Fill single (this one is very useful).
The graphics are nothing spectacular but they are very eye-friendly and attractive enough. The animated space background is really beautiful and the cargo is colorful. Moreover, all the visual effects are very well done; music is pleasant and not too repetitive.
There are two gameplay modes Casual Mode and Delivery Mode. Casual Mode is the game's normal mode as described above, Delivery Mode is very similar to Casual Mode but the row of tiles at the bottom will keep moving so you will be in quite a rush to keep up with the tiles.
One flaw this game has is that expect for slight change in the shape of the cargo and the increase in the level of difficulties, all levels are very similar. The developer could have add more power-ups variety or some mini-puzzles such as jigsaw or tile sliding ones between levels to avoid repetitiveness.
Overall, Galactic Express is a simple but surprisingly addicting puzzle game, it provided us with hours of pure fun. Both visuals and gameplay are very family-friendly; it is a very good game to pick to play with your children on your free afternoon.
