Antique Mysteries: Secrets of Howard's Mansion - Review

Name: Antique Mysteries: Secrets of Howard's Mansion
Release Date: 22 April 2012
Developer: Tuttifruitti Interactive/Casual Mechanics

Antique Mysteries: Secrets of Howard's Mansion is the first Casual Game developed by Tuttifruitti Interactive, co-partner with Casual Mechanics, even the developer is new to the genre but this game is very well developed and it's immensely entertaining! Firstly, the story is very interesting, although it's pretty thin and the developer could have added more details or dialogues. Both graphics and music are also very well done, bright and cheerful, a nice break from all those gloomy HOGs. HOG scenes are also not just junk piles, and items are mostly big enough for the eyes to spot. What really outstanding in this game is its puzzles, they're very creative, unique and the most important, they're fun! Despite its pros, this game also has some cons. The map in this game is not actually very useful, it has all locations very well plotted, however, we can't use it to jump from scene to scene and it doesn't show the objectives or cleared area. The hint button is also not very effective, you can just use it once after it recharges, so if the active location is several rooms away, the hint can only guide you to the nearby room but not the exact room we want to go! The length of the game is also not terribly long, since the main adventure part is very linear, the gameplay is fairly easy. Anyway, the good bits of this game outweighs its flaws, Antique Mysteries is another well crafted piece of work which can easily be noted by its unusual puzzles and interesting gameplay!
