Name: Dark Dimensions: Wax Beauty Collector's Edition
Release Date: 27 April 2012
Developer: Daily Magic Productions
We had set a very high hope for this sequel because City of Fog really impressed us, however, the game couldn't managed to keep up of its fantastic prequel, it falls short nearly on every aspects! The best thing about this sequel is the story, it's quite different, hooking and even creepy! Graphics in this game are also top-notch with superb artwork and many gorgeous scenes and several great looking wax models to explore, unfortunately, nearly all scenes are extremely dark, dark colors are suitable for this type of game, but somehow it looks depressing, especially in HOG scenes, no wonder it's called 'Dark' Dimensions! The game involves a lot of unnecessary backtracking, many times you need to walk from the other side of the city just to complete a single task! The game is also ridiculously easy, all interactions are very easy (there're a lot interactions in HOG scenes, some are quite difficult to figure, so that's good) and even puzzles are very easy that even you're not familiar with solving puzzles, you would hardly use the 'Skip' button. Music are distracting, and they're endless, many sound effects are good but many are also quite annoying! Cut scenes in this game involve real actors, however, their performances aren't the best and the voice overs are very jerky and are mostly emotionless? Since the gameplay offers us nothing new and it's very easy, we can continuosly complete tasks and that makes the game feels a bit too short for CE status, even Extra Features aren't that interesting (basic things like Wallpapers, Soundtracks, Concept Art etc.). Dark Dimensions: Wax Beauty has a good potential to be a great game, it has very great artwork and exciting story, but with annoying music, depressing-looking scenes and easy gameplay, this HOG sequel is nothing more than a disappointment!
